Experience Lava Hot Springs, Idaho

Lava Hot Springs sits in Idaho's Bannock County and is about 35 miles southeast of Pocatello. This southern Idaho city offers a good mix of things to do that include indoor and outdoor activities. Lava Hot Springs sits along the banks of the Portneuf River amid a valley in the Portneuf Mountains. This location is perfect for those looking to go hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, ziplining, taking a tube out on the river that runs through town, and soaking in our world-famous hot springs.

Visitors to Lava Hot Springs can also learn the history of the area at the South Bannock County Historical Museum. This museum offers permanent and rotating exhibits for all to enjoy. Winter visitors won't want to miss out on Pebble Creek Ski Area and Baker Ranch snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. There's no shortage of great activities to do in Lava Hot Springs, all of which are sure to make your visit to Winzig Lodge a memorable one.

Amenities and Accommodations

Winzig Lodge offers both overnight and long-term rentals. We offer five overnight rentals and four long-term rentals.

Four overnight units are designed for two (2) guests with an option for two (2) additional small guests. Each with one king size bed, two twin portable floor pads, furnished kitchenette, and sitting area.

One overnight unit is our two-bedroom family unit designed for eight to ten (8-10) guests with an option for two (2) additional small guests. This option includes a master bedroom with one king size bed and attached bathroom; a second bedroom with one queen bed, one twin over full size bunkbed with trundle bed underneath, attached bathroom, and two (2) twin portable floor pads; full kitchen; and half bath with washer/dryer on the main floor.

All overnight rentals come with High-Speed Fiber Optic Wi-Fi and on-site parking. Most of the rooms feature a deck, putting the open-air views at your fingertips when you're ready to relax and enjoy a hot or cold beverage or catch a bite to eat outdoors.

Our four long-term rentals come fully furnished, complete with a full kitchen, one bedroom, one bathroom, washer/dryer, covered patio, High-Speed Fiber Optic Wi-Fi connection, and private parking. World-famous Lava Hot Springs

Winzig Lodge puts you on the doorstep of the world-famous Lava Hot Springs. These natural hot springs carry a host of minerals, minus sulfur, helping you relax and enjoy your time in the water. There are five different pools ranging in temperature from 102-112 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, the hot springs are ever-changing as about 2.5 million gallons of hot mineral water run through the pools each day en route to the Portneuf River. Open all year, these five pools are the perfect getaway for couples in the winter months too. The Outdoor Olympic Swimming Complex and water slides are open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The Indoor Swimming pool complete with a Kiddie Cove is open year-round. Lest we forget...the Portneuf River provides water-time fun for all ages as folks just love to float the river in tubes all summer long. Even in February during Lava Hot Springs's "Fire & Ice Festival" folks float the river in tubes. Imagine that!

Where to Eat in Lava Hot Springs

Whether your day was filled with fun on the water, skiing, golfing, horseback riding, ATV-ing, you can enjoy several dining options in Lava Hot Springs. Most of the restaurants are situated in the downtown area, with options such as pizza, food trucks, a bar n' grill, Thai food or good old country cooking.
